At the beginning of this year Evergreen Service Providers pledged our focus to be on enrichment. In that spirit, we’ve named our newsletter Thrive! Our content will focus on information that can help you thrive while you help the Individuals who share your home thrive — a commitment that is at the heart of our mission.

We welcome your suggestions for content you’d like to see, along with your ideas and tips for enriching your own life and helping your Individuals thrive in mind, body, and spirit.

Several of you have shared how working with our Individuals has changed your lives. We’d welcome each of you to share your experiences and how this important work makes a difference for you and others. If you’d like to do so, please let Deanne know and we’ll take it from there.

Financial Planning for Special Needs

Financial Planning is an important objective for all families, and not a simple one. Planning for a family member with special needs or a disability is even more complex.

Our recent blog discusses some of the circumstances that may need to be considered and planned for. It provides steps that can be taken and suggests advisors that may need to be consulted. If you are a Host Home Provider, rather than a Family Care Giver, consider sharing this blog with family members of the Individuals you care for. With the right expert advice and preparation, they and you can feel confident that the needs of loved ones living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities will be met.

Neurodiversity in the Workplace

In the world of work, the concept of diversity has expanded to include the spectrum of neurological differences. Neurodiversity embraces differences in brain function and behavior as a natural manifestation of humanity’s variety rather than viewing those variances as wrong or problematic.

This article explains how reframing these differences as natural, each with its own unique strengths and capabilities, can greatly benefit the individual and their place of work. Consider how this concept may benefit the IDD Individuals we serve in scenarios other than work. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
