Thrive! October 2024 News from Evergreen Service Providers – Thank you!

Thrive! Thank You! Autumn 2024AA

Greetings!

Autumn’s dazzling beauty is the perfect accompaniment to usher in this season of gratitude. It’s a time for friends, family, giving and receiving
a time when we see anew what is good in our lives and how we are blessed, sometimes through challenging times. We may find ourselves saying and hearing “Thank you” often, which lifts our spirits.

I hope you’ll enjoy this quarter’s newsletter and its focus on gratitude, including how and why being grateful not only makes us feel better but can actually improve physical health.

We are especially grateful for our Host Home Providers, Family Caregivers, Staff, Board of Directors, and the special Individuals which are the heart of our mission.
You make a positive difference daily in the lives of the Individuals we serve. Thank you for helping them thrive and for being a part of the Evergreen family.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Barbara

Thanks For Joining Us at the Rockies Game!

Evergreen Service Providers recently hosted 88 members of our Evergreen family – including the Individuals we serve, Host Home Providers, Family Caregivers, members of our Board of Directors, staff members, and some guests – to the last Colorado Rockies game of the season.

Donning Rockies caps, cheering for the home team, and enjoying some ballpark food, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Even though the Rockies didn’t get the win, we were fortunate to be there on Charlie Blackmon Day, honoring him as he played his final game prior to retirement. The outfielder has played with the Rockies for his entire 14-year career.

This was a great reminder of the honor we have to work with this special group of people, and an illustration of what we are all about – helping IDD Individuals thrive as participants in their communities.

The Benefits of Gratitude

Gratitude is what we feel when we acknowledge the good things in our lives. Those acknowledgements turn our focus to what’s positive and boost our moods. But it’s more than a feeling!

Numerous studies reveal that a grateful outlook, counting one’s blessings, and expressing gratitude to others can have positive effects on our emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and even physical health. It can change our attitude and make us kinder to ourselves and others. Learn more, including ways to make gratitude a part of each day.

Use Crafts to Help Your Individuals Thrive

We’re grateful – all year long – for all the ways our generous, caring Host Home Providers and Family Caregivers help the Individuals we serve to thrive. In that light, we’d like to share some Thanksgiving craft projects, designed for adults with disabilities, that you can do together. The first project gives ideas for creating a gratitude journal, followed by fun stuff like fall leaf painting, Thanksgiving placemats, making a scarecrow, and much more. You can also find a link at the bottom of the page to Christmas craft projects. Enjoy!

In Tribute to Dave Myers

November is pancreatic cancer awareness month. We remember, with gratitude, Dave Myers, Founder of Evergreen Service Providers. We encourage you to learn about pancreatic cancer – the disease that took his life – including its symptoms, treatments, prevention, and the research and progress that is ongoing. Thank you, Dave, for the difference your vision and your life’s work continues to make in so many lives in the IDD community.
